Photo: BASRA By Sharell Lockhart Freeport News Reporter FREEPORT, Bahamas skoda fabia -- Four people traveling from Florida were killed when the small plane they were in crashed in waters about five miles off Grand Bahama on Monday, authorities said. The plane left Ormond Beach Municipal Airport skoda fabia en route to Grand Bahama, according to Inspector Terecita Pinder, a police spokesperson. Pinder said authorities were alerted about the crash of the twin-engine Cessna 340 around 10 am. She said low tide made the recovery operation difficult. “Rescue skoda fabia and recovery operators had to revamp their strategy in order to ascertain how best they would be able to gain proper access to the crash site for the rescue and recovery mission to be successful,” she said. Justin Snisky, chairman skoda fabia of the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association (BASRA), added, “Following skoda fabia reports of the plane crash BASRA immediately launched its rescue vessels along with the RBPF Marine Division and RBDF into the crash site area. “However, due to the location of the aircraft, which is in extremely shallow waters, recovery efforts at this time have been next to impossible.” Noting that as BASRA’s rescue vessel got closer to the crash site challenges arose, Snisky said operators of the vessel were forced to pull it back before it became stuck in the shallows. “After facing those challenges we regrouped with the RBPF Marine Division and the Defence Force with another plan along with the US Embassy and Coast Guard to assist in the rescue and recovery,” Snisky said. “Upon gaining proper access to the crash site and conducting an investigation of the aircraft, it was confirmed that there were deceased persons onboard and unfortunately there were no survivors.” The victims’ identities were not released. skoda fabia Republished with permission of the Nassau Guardian
